Position Overview
The Water Treatment Plant Maintenance Supervisor leads maintenance activities that support the safe and reliable operation of the Frankfort Plant Board Water Treatment Plant.
This position supervises maintenance personnel and is responsible for plant equipment, instrumentation, SCADA systems, PLC programming support, preventive maintenance programs, and maintenance-related capital projects.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership while ensuring equipment reliability and regulatory compliance throughout plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
Supervise and evaluate maintenance personnel
Assist with hiring, training, and employee development
Coordinate maintenance activities and work assignments
Support plant operations and emergency response activities
Maintenance & Reliability
Oversee repair and replacement of:
Pumps
Motors
Electrical systems
Hydraulic systems
Pneumatic systems
Structural equipment
Manage preventive maintenance programs
Coordinate contractor repairs and specialized services
Controls & Automation
Maintain plant-wide SCADA systems
Support PLC programming and software updates
Coordinate system modifications with SCADA integrators
Maintain process instrumentation and control systems
Project Support
Participate in Water Treatment Plant capital improvement projects
Serve in lead or support roles on maintenance-related initiatives
Assist with annual budget planning and inventory management
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience
✔ High School Diploma or GED
✔ Five (5) years of industrial maintenance experience
✔ 12–18 months of supervisory and/or project management experience
Required Licenses
✔ Valid Kentucky Driver’s License
✔ Electrician or Master Electrician License in accordance with Kentucky KRS Chapter 227A
Preferred Qualifications
⭐ Kentucky Drinking Water Treatment Operator Certification (Class IIIA or IVA)
⭐ Experience with:
SCADA systems
PLC programming
Industrial controls
Water treatment operations
Working Conditions
This position requires work in both indoor and outdoor environments and may involve:
Electrical systems
Chemical exposure
Mechanical equipment
Elevated work areas
Emergency response situations
The position participates in the organization’s random drug and alcohol testing program.
