The City of Bardstown is looking for a qualified individual to fill the full-time position of Assistant Chief Water Plant Operator. This position is day shift. Starting salary is $33.76 an hour. Applicants must have a Class IV Water Operators License and a minimum of five years of experience.

Some of the job duties include:

• Assists with the management of the day-to-day activities of direct reports including recruiting, onboarding & training, performance evaluation, promotion, and disciplinary processes.
• Assist with the management of the planning, prioritization, and assignment of daily work activities to the water staff. Monitors the progress of staff and contractors to ensure that work is completed with high quality and in accordance with federal, state, and City regulations.
• Assists with the management of the monitoring and maintenance of plant and equipment in accordance with preventive maintenance program.
• Assists with the management of the maintenance, compilation, and updating of plant operation logs and reports. Performs and records mathematical calculations related to plant operational activities under management.
• Assists with the management of the operation and adjustment of water treatment plant pumps, motors, meters, feeders and other equipment to maintain appropriate plant operations.
• Assists with the management of the general plant facility maintenance such as cleaning, painting and repairing plant facilities.
• Assists with the strategic planning and budgetary process for the Engineering department and meeting approved plans.
• Assists with implementing and maintaining a departmental safety and training program.
• Assists with management of the water budget and ensures compliance with department and City guidelines. Provides guidance to water staff on managing and tracking assigned budgets.

If approval to access Ft. Knox cannot be obtained for any reason, employment may be terminated. Must lift pipe and materials up to 75 pounds as well as climb up and down ladders and in and out of trenches as required. Must read small printed numbers on dials and input those numbers by pressing a keypad on a handheld device without transposing the numbers. Must monitor audible and visual alarms and communication devices including telephone, cell phone and truck radio. Frequent standing, sitting, stooping, walking; Climbing to high places or working in confined spaces also required.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS
This position involves working within an indoor office environment around general office equipment, moving, pressurized equipment and chemicals as well as working outdoors in all types of weather. Must work a shift with no supervision. Some travel required to other locations within Kentucky. Position requires working various shifts at all times of the day and frequently working on holidays.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
